The increase in per trip cost is a result of the dramatic rise in fuel prices. The higher fuel costs also affect the over all costs of maintenance.
When you book a fishing charter with North Shore Charters on Martha's
Vineyard we take care of you. Our charters offer fishing trips for
all ages and skill levels. If the kids have never caught a big Striped
Bass or Bluefish we'll show them a great time. North Shore
Charter's knows you came out to catch fish and we catch the trophy
Striped Bass and Bluefish.
Half day fishing charters are prefect when searching for Striped
Bass & Bluefish, we offer two trips daily. If you are looking
for some big game fishing Captain McDowell
can take you for tuna, marlin and sharks
on a full day offshore fishing trip. All the fish you catch will
be cleaned and filleted right at the dock upon our successful return.
All charters include rods, tackle and bait, but fishermen are welcome
to bring their own gear. Please bring any food or drink with you
for the charter. You may get refreshments and snack food at Menemsha
Texaco at the end of the dock in Menemsha.
In the past few years the striped bass
population has exploded and we are experiencing great striper action
right on through the entire summer. Early spring and late fall are
the best times for striped bass fishing.
You can count on great striped
bass action from early spring to late fall. By late spring the bluefish
join the bass and this action continues right through the end of
October. Fish in the 40 to 50 pound class are moving through Vineyard
waters throughout the season. This is when we drift fresh herring
or mackeral for stripers and catching 30 to 40 fish on one charter
is not uncommon. I strongly suggest booking the early spring trips
if you want a shot at the most amazing striper action you will ever
have. In late July the bonito and false albacore show up inshore
to join the bass and blues. This is the time that the offshore action
heats up. Yellowfin and bluefin tuna are about one hour from Menemsha
as well as Mako and blue shark. White Marlin
are mixed in and great fun on spinning tackle. We use lots of different
methods to hook these fish; casting, drifting, and trolling to name
a few. Different conditions require different techniques and the
BASSnBLUE and Slapshot II are deadly at all of
them.
